The window automatically opens when smoke is detected to quickly release smoke and excess heat and meets EU requirements. It can also be opened to let in fresh air for comfort ventilation. The window is operated via the electrical control system. The system can be activated, by a control unit, a smoke detector or a break glass point. When activated as smoke ventilation the window opens approx. 90°. When used for comfort ventilation the window must not be opened more than 200 mm (timer to be set in the control unit KFC of the control system KFX). The smoke ventilation roof window can be installed without wind deflector KFD for geometric smoke ventilation areas or with wind deflector KFD for aerodynamic smoke ventilation requirements. When installed with wind deflector KFD, precautions must be taken to avoid snow loads from the area immediately above the window by installing traditional snow wedges or snow stops.

  • Smoke ventilation window GGL is centre-pivoted, mains-powered and operated via the control system for smoke ventilation. The smoke ventilation window is based on the design of roof window GGL. In the VELUX code system, the window is identified by the number "40" at the end of the variant code, for instance GGL MK06 307340. GGL ----40 is available with and without wind deflector KFD.

    GGL ----40 with KFD is the same window as GGL -----40 without KFD, but is fitted with wind deflectors both on the inside of the sash and the outside of the frame. Frame and sash made of laminated pine wood and ventilation flap made of pine wood are finished with triple coat. The exterior of the frame and sash is metal-clad and therefore maintenance-free. The window is equipped with an insulating glass unit. The electrical components are described in greater detail under each component.
